Challenge
A major food service company that was an existing customer needed more capacity to supply their growing business in the Southeastern United States.
Solution
After thorough analysis of volume requirements, impacts of inbound and outbound logistics, timing, greenfield vs. brownfield construction, I determined an existing 125,000 square foot building could be renovated to accommodate the installation of 15 food processing production lines located in North Carolina.
As the process engineer, I was responsible for the plant design, determining the utility requirements, determing the plant layout, identifying the support equipment needed such as flour and oil delivery systems — as well as identifying the processing and packaging equipment.
After developing the budget, I provided the capital project request for approval, submitted the PO’s for the equipment, and upon approval, I oversaw the equipment installation and start-up of the factory.
Outcome
Project was completed on time and on budget.
